UFO&PSI glossary: M
Glossary comes from latin "glossarium, glossa" (foreign word), and is in fact a list of often difficult-to-understand words followed by their definitions. An encyclopedia of any kind cannot be considered complete without providing a comprehensive glossary.

Mantell, Thomas: Captain, pilot of USAF, died in strange circumstances while chasing a UFO in the daily sky of Kentucky following the orders of his commando (1948). The first accident of this kind, suggesting hostility from UFO pilots.
Mars Mission, The: scientific team of USA composed by ex NASA researchers, involved in the analyse of possible extra-terrestrial traces on Mars and on other planets. Its speaker is Richard Hoagland.
Meier, Eduard "Billy": Swiss contactee of the '80s, very famous for his photos of beamships.
MHD: magnetohydrodynamics, experimental branch of physics founded by the work of Michael Faraday. The principle of the MHD, impossible in the vacuum, consists in making circulate in the medium surrounding the mobile an electrical current. The mobile, at the same time, will emit a magnetic field. According to the law of Laplace, this field will exert a force on the current, and thus on the medium where he circulates. It is the principle of the majority of the electric motors. Despite the theory shows us a MHD propulsion is possible, there are certain limits within our technology that do not allow us to build a flying disc. Its application start from 1964 with S. Way's project of a MHD submarine. 1968 saw the first application to UFOs thanks to Ph.D. Stanton Friedman, while in 1973 Prof. Auguste Meessen reports previous works; finally in 1974 comes Jean-Pierre Petit with his advancements.
MIB: Men In Black. Strange characters (probably secret services') who mostly threatened private ufologists to shut up. Their name comes from their typical black suits.
Missing Time: unconscious memories repression, after a trauma such as an abduction.
M.O.C.: "Mystérieux Objets Célestes", UFOs for Aimé Michel in the 1950s and 1960s.
Mothman: between 1966-'67 at Point Pleasant, witnesses report two big eyes on a big body with a couple of wings on its back. If some believe it's a monster or an alien, some others claim it's only a Tyto alba, an owl: the head is large and rounded without ear tufts, rounded wings.
Monnerisme: the skeptical approach and school started by Monnerie.
MUFON: Mutual UFO Network directed by Walter Andrus. Working closely with CUFOS, it's a very respectful UFO study centre.
Mutilazioni Animali MIsteriose: Italian say for mysterious cattle mutilation cases, of ufological origins for Linda Howe, maximum expert of such domain.
