Movies: La Jetée
The following is a movie I've watched and reviewed. Contrary to popular belief, I'm not selling DVDs. This is not a list of movies that tell you "the truth about UFOs". Simply said, I like movies. Each review is as simple and non technical as possible.

Description: Earth stands ruined in the aftermath of a nuclear war. The few surviving humans begin researching time travel, in hopes of sending someone back to the pre-war world in search of food, supplies, and hopefully some sort of solution to mankind's imminent end. The protagonist, a man with the retention of a single, vague childhood memory (that of witnessing a murder on the jetty at Orly airport) is the basis for his being chosen to travel back in time. His journey leads him towards an enigmatic and paradoxical destiny.
For me, La Jetée is an artistic movie. It is stunning. First unusual thing: it is composed by black & white photographs along an audio commentary. The black and white still frames let the image linger in the mind... in fact, he reuses certain images repeatedly, as in the time travel sequences. Chris Marker is incredible in his conception and direction. Not just a great story. Marker's idea that dreams are the key to time travel, or at least unlocking the past represents an interesting idea. The Twelve Monkeys is a good "remake" worth to watch.
The only edition I've found of La Jetée has audio in English and not in French, which is stupid (considering you can add subtitles and other audio tracks)!
