Movies: The Shining
The following is a movie I've watched and reviewed. Contrary to popular belief, I'm not selling DVDs. This is not a list of movies that tell you "the truth about UFOs". Simply said, I like movies. Each review is as simple and non technical as possible.

Description: Stanley Kubrick brings his genius to horror and man, wow. The story is simple: Jack Torrance, aspiring writer, moves to an isolated Overlook Hotel because of his new job as caretaker during the off-season, along with his wife Wendy and the little Danny. Plenty of space, food, time to write. Danny's shining (hence the title) reveals the past horrors and hauntings of the hotel. The evil spirit of Grady, the former caretaker who chopped the heads of his family, finally wins over Jack's defences.
Kubrick explores the realms of horror in a brilliant way: the music, the camera 's images that amplify the loneliness and distortion plus the psychic inserts (the twins and the blood) have avoided clichées of horror (zombies and monsters all over). Haunting and thriller coexist. Just like with Donnie Darko, The Shining is not a splatter, but a masterpiece of visual art. I must admit Nicholson plays the part of the dad gone mad just fine.
