What lies behind the UFO phenomenon? Only figments of imagination, or is there some truth, in the sense that UFOs are guided by some extra-terrestrial being? The first part is dedicated to objective arguments - pilots’ eye witness accounts, photographs, films, other evidence and government declarations. The answer at the question is yes, intelligent UFOs do exist. In the second part we try to understand who is guiding them by listening to the accounts of people who have been contacted and kidnapped. Yet is it a new phenomenon? The third part explains that UFOs have been around for a long time, citing sources from various cultures, from the Sumerians to Ancient Egyptians, etc. The fourth part endeavours to answer the question: what is hidden in top secret files? The following subjects are investigated: recovered UFOs, bodies of aliens retrieved, official contacts between governments and Ets, NASA and UFOs. And lastly, why do State secrets still exist? Famous scholars and eyewitnesses both participate and ample documentation is furnished. The filming took place between 1995 and 1996 in Europe, the United States and in Mexico. (Source: RSI)

The documentary is divided into four episodes:

• "UFO : top secret", 12 January 1997, 9:15 PM (sightings). (This first episode was also broadcast by the German-speaking Swiss television SF1 on 27 September 1997, 4:05 PM.)
• "UFO: incontri ravvicinati", 13 January 1997, 9:40 PM (contactees and abductions).
• "UFO: antichi astronauti", 12 January 1997, 10:45 PM (ancient astronauts).
• "UFO: cosmic Watergate", 14 January 1997, 8:30 PM (cover-up).

This long documentary ended with a debate featuring some well-known UFO researchers: Roberto Pinotti, Corrado Malanga, Dino Dini, Giorgio Buonvino and Auguste Meessen. No skeptic, at least no one involved in the UFO field, was there. Furthermore, in my humble opinion, the documentary contained some questionable parts like the interviews with Giorgio Bongiovanni and Giorgio Dibitonto. "UFO" is completely pro-ETH. Yet, I guess it was able to change the mind of many Swiss Italians.
