Pinotti is born in September 12, 1944 in Venice Italy. In 1972, he receives a degree in Political Science/Applied Sociology at the University of Florence's College of Political Science. In 1975 he obtains a Professional qualification in Journalism, while in 1992 he achieves a Degree in Business Administration and Management Science at the Superior Institute of Business Management and Economics of Lugano, Switzerland.
Pinotti is one of the few able to convert to full time ufology. From 1971 to 1972 he's Artillery Lieutenant, NATO Italian Army III Missile Brigade, from 1972 to 1989 he works for FIAT as Commercial Service Executive.
From 1975, Pinotti engages full time into UFO/SETI research: firtstly, as freelance scientific journalist and author of several books on different aereospace subjects. He is Vice President of FUTURO Ltd., a Florence Aereospace firm, from 1985 to 1995, becoming Researcher Director and Marketing Consultant between 1989 and 1995. Then, until 2001, he's editor of the now gone "Notiziario UFO" and "Dossier Alieni" magazines, renamed nowadays "UFO Notiziario", the official magazine of "Centro Ufologico Nazionale" (CUN).
Among his achievements, it must be mentioned his participation to the IAF Congress (Bangalore, India) in 1988 with the papers: "ETI, SETI And Today's Public Opinion" (SETI Session), "Indo-Aryan Traditions And History Of Astronautics" (History of Astronautics Session) and "Space Station Habitant Module: Privacy And Collective Life with D. Bedini" (Man System Session). Such presentation meets unexpected, positive international echo. In 1983, the publication of the scientific monograph "Contact: releasing the news", presented in the 1987 IAF Congress, in the International Anthology "SETI post detection protocol", edited by J.C. Tarter (NASA Ames) and M.A. Michaud (U.S. Department of State), features Pinotti as the only Italian contribution in the 16 chosen papers.
Pinotti has been able to organize and promote, since 1993, a series of Symposiums at the San Marino Republic, hosted in a deluxe theatre. President of the CUN since 1999, Pinotti has lived an era of Italian ufology, knowing in person some legendary researchers such as Hynek, Sani, Perego and others.
Considered "chief of ufologists" in Italy, he's author of many popular divulgative books like "Angeli, Dei Astronavi" (1991), "UFO Visitatori Da Altrove" (1990), "UFO Top Secret" (1995), "UFO Scacchiere Italia" (1992) and "Gli X-Files Del Nazifascismo", co-authored with Lissoni (2001).
