Frequently Asked Questions PDF Print E-mail

The following are the most feequently asked questions you may have about this site. After I though and thought about which ones you may have, I've come up with these. If you have more, don't hesitate to contact me.

Are there any videos and sounds to download on your site?

Not for direct download because they eat bandwith and can be copyrighted. I'm going to embed videos into specific pages, though.

Are you selling books and DVDs?

No, I'm not selling anything at all on this site. The book and DVD pages are only reviews. The price is meant to give an idea of how much an item could cost.

Can you put me in contact with XYZ?

We do not do public relations between you and a researcher. I suppose you're old enough to contact anyone, plus I don't want any troubles with people I don't know in real life.

Do you participate to TV or radio shows?

No, because I don't find medias trustworthy. I accept only newspaper and magazine interviews, at best.

Every how much is the website updated?

There are no regular updates. Each article is likely to receive improvements in style, grammar and contents, following my free time and a better understanding of the phenomena. To write a new entry, decently, it can easily take 1 week.

What does "UFOPSI" mean?

Ufopsi (spell it "u-ef-o-p-es-i") is a short word that mixes UFO (Ufology) and PSI (parapsychological phenomena), to make it easy to understand and remember. Write as "UFOPSI" or "Ufopsi", not "UFOpsi"!

What's Ufopsi like, nowadays?

Ufopsi, starting as a personal web site, has become an encyclopedia made of many subprojects: ufology and parapsychology articles, interviews, the glossary, the gallery, the Book and DVD reviews. Each is a work on its own, with different requirements in layout and information display and especially each with ongoing researches. We could say it's a wikipedia, except that surfers are not allowed to edit articles.

Why one more UFO site?

I started Ufopsi because I did not agree with the many web sites spreading hoaxes or dumb news as true facts, not to forget how some people see the paranormal and UFOs everywhere, while others don't know a word about ufology.

Content-specific FAQs

Some articles are written in poor English, while others are better. Why?

Well, the oldest probably are the worse, English-wise. I've been working hard to improve my use of the English language, therefore the most recent articles should be better. I'll try to fix them all.

Can I contribute?

Of course! Let me know about typo mistakes, sentences that can be improved (I'm no Brit nor American), missing contents, and so on. Being myself Italian, I wanted to make the effort in writing in a language that is not mine.

In most photos you quote a © or a source, why?

If I desire to show photos that don't belong to me, it's ethically correct to quote the ©. It is a honest thing to do. In a few cases, I have not found it yet. No revenue is being made on such photos. Images in the gallery are shown for informative purpose only, some may be copyrighted or faked.

Links don't open in a new browser window, why?

Link targets are part of my web usability manual, because they open in the same window, except a few. Opening new windows buggers accessibility, thereby making things difficult for the visually impaired, and also does not create a coherent history path. People who click on a link just want to go there. The back button is the most used function of all browsers, and I hate sites that open windows all over the place.

May I link to a page of your site from my web site?

Links are welcome and encouraged. Each page being static, its URL won't change nor become outdated. With the new version though, internal links have changed: don't hesitate to contact me to receive the updated URLs.

May I take articles or graphics from Ufopsi?

I wish you to contact and ask me first. Every request is examined and welcome if the intentions are honest. Although some just take, I definetly take actions only if the contents are hotlinked and if my contant is placed in a questionable context. A link back to Ufopsi is always mandatory!
